Melodie Sartain

Managing Director

Mrs. Sartain has worn many hats, but the hat she has loved the most, second only to child of God, is wife and mom. She met her husband, Dave, at Wayland Baptist University and now he is now the Family Pastor at Grace Community Church in Universal City. They have three grown children and one left to go. Jonathan is on staff at CBC here in San Antonio. Rebekah is the 3-4 year old teacher at our Adkins campus and the Kindergarten teacher at our Schertz campus as well as a nanny. Benjamin will be a senior at Howard Payne in Brownwood and Caleb will be a junior at Kaleo Academy. Mrs. Sartain has been a professional performer for 28 years, specializing in Children’s and Family theater. She made that decision when her oldest was 3 years old and asked, “When do I get to see your play, mommy?” She has performed all over the United States, including Hawaii! She has toured nationally with a show called “The Backyard Circus” for the past 12 years and has performed this show at The State Fair of Texas for the past 10 years. While performing has been a great part of her life, the homeschool community holds her heart. There is so much richness that she has seen in her own family from this homeschool way of life and she wants to help other families experience the same.

She was the director of a national homeschool group called Artios for seven years. When the pandemic hit, there simply were not enough students to continue with Artios and still pay teachers etc. So, Kaleo was born! The first year, Kaleo ran co-op style, with parents filling all of our non teaching roles, so that we could continue to pay our teachers. They even filled some of our teaching roles!

She would like to tell you that she enjoys long walks on the beach and downtime, but she really thrives in the rush of life. She loves Jesus with every breath. She loves being with her family and playing games and watching movies. She loves Kaleo and our families. She loves performing. That fills her time 23/7! (She has to sleep some time!)
