Melissa Servin

Hello, my name is Melissa Servin and I feel so blessed to have Kaleo as a part of my family’s homeschool journey! My 12 year old son and I are entering year #4 of homeschooling and year #2 homeschooling here in San Antonio. We have had so much fun exploring the city this last year and discovering new, creative ways to integrate all that Texas has to offer into our school days. In 2021, I resigned from a twenty year career with the Department of Education, having worked as a school counselor, K-12 teacher, and a community college teacher. This change allowed me to “slow down” and refocus our family matters which led us all to Christian homeschooling. I have been working and volunteering with various homeschool programs and co-ops ever since! I could not have done this without my supportive husband, Jacob, who has been a Ford Master Technician for over 28 years. Together we have Jonas, 12, and Christian, 28, Jonas being an adventurous and curious young man now, who loves to read and learn. Christian is our introvertive, computer techy guy through and through. When I am not teaching, my family and I enjoy road trips and traveling, camping, gardening, trying new restaurants, and caring for our dogs and chickens. I hold a Masters in Teaching from Fresno State and a Texas state multi-subject teacher credential, but it is a Guadalupe County Master Gardening certification that I really look forward to earning!
