Val Cavazos
Teaching Assistant
Hi, I’m Valerie Cavazos, The kids call me Mrs. Val. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Incarnate Word, Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Phoenix, and a Graduate Certification in Diabetes Management from Capella University. I am an experienced Registered Nurse (RN), and Air Force Officer, with years of accomplishments in the field of nursing, leadership, management, patient safety, diabetes management, staff, and patient teaching & education.
God can do amazing thing in our lives and has rocked my world many times over. I say this because I am a walking miracle. Nothing prepared me for the most humbling, but amazing change He set me on course for in 2015 when I lost my job, became ill, and almost died. I love my Lord Jesus, love my family, and love my Kaleo family. I am so blessed to be a part of the Kaleo community. They are my extended family. I am so grateful and blessed to have the opportunity to be here with your kids to guide, teach, and show them how our Lord loves us so much. You may see me going around asking if someone needs help or anything needs to be done. Please don’t feel bad giving me something to do. I love helping!
I have a wonderful husband, Rodney; we just celebrated our 25th anniversary. We have two sons, Ethan, 20, who graduated from the first Kaleo Class in 2021, and Jake, 14, who is a freshman at Kaleo this year. We have been homeschooling for as long as I can remember, and I am so thankful for Kaleo for helping me show my boys that learning can be fun. I love to cook, feed anyone who will let me, watch movies with my family, read my Bible, and give gifts (it’s my love language).
