Hello, My name is Frances Johnson. I have a wonderful husband Beau and our three boys ages 21,19, and 14. I have always had a heart for teaching, however I would have never guessed I’d find myself teaching robotics. As a daughter of a mechanic married into a mechanically inclined family, my assumption was it was a common skill set. As our boys reached their teen years, we realized there were not a lot of engineering training opportunities available for kids in our community. In 2016 as a fairly new homeschool family at the time, we started the 4h Robo Legends Robotics club. Over the seven years mentoring robotics as a family, our 4h teams qualified to compete in the VEX Worlds Robotics Championship for Middle and High School ages every year. We have seen the phenomenal impact this program has on the students. Robotics teaches more than robots, and I am blessed and honored to have the opportunity to teach Elementary VEX IQ and VEX GO Robotics at KALEO Academy.
